Company History
Lee's Decorative Showcase is a family owned business that was created in 1946 under the name Lee's Upholstering. During the early years, Lee's Upholstering specialized in creating breakfast nooks in the then-booming housing market in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California. Over the next 25 years, under the guidance of company founder Hymie Levi, we began to branch out into re-upholstery services, as well as opening a retail market which sold basic upholstery supplies and fabrics to the public.
Lee's Upholstering really began to shift its focus in 1977 when the son of our company's founder took over the business. Recognizing the changing needs of the decorative upholstery industry, he began to shift our focus exclusively towards selling supplies, and as such, we changed our company name to "Lee's Upholstery Supply." Our company focus shifted to offering goods, services, reliability, and new products. This decision paid off, and the upholstery supply business proved very successful. We were able to assert ourselves as the premier supplier in a niche market, making us the only one-source supplier with same-day service.
Recognizing that our industry was shifting again, we saw that we were going to need to expand our brand. In 1985, Lee's made a major commitment to become a nationwide supplier of high quality trims, tassels, decorative nails, and upholstery supplies. This change in product mix made it necessary to change the company's name yet again, so Lee's Upholstery Supply became Lee's Decorative Showcase, Inc. We felt that the new name would best represent the new multi-faceted nature of our company. From that point on we were no longer just about upholstery supplies.
After nearly a decade of success with our new product lines and company focus, we realized that in order to stay ahead of the game, that we would need to offer an even wider assortment of high end products to our customers. So in 1994, after many discussions, we were able to secure an agreement with one of the premier manufacturers of designer upholstery nails in the world to allow us to import their products into the U.S. Some of their nails were so rare, that they were designs from the 1800's. Needless to say, they were an immediate hit in the U.S. marketplace.
Today, after 67 years in business, Lee's Decorative Showcase is the largest importer of Decorative Upholstery Nails in the entire United States, along with also being one of the largest suppliers within the upholstery industry of pillow forms, drapery supplies, and yes, even a wide range of the very same upholstery supplies that started us on our journey so long ago.
